Deep cleaning is the job people postpone until it becomes obvious. Kitchen grease, mould in the bathroom corners and the dirt that collects behind the AC unit are all priced here, so you can plan a single visit rather than four.

Common questions
What does a deep clean actually include?
The headline price usually covers a package for a standard flat: kitchen and bathroom degreasing, floors, the glass inside and the standard consumables. Anything outside that package is usually an extra, such as the inside of an oven, the top of a fridge, inside cupboards, blinds, or the outside of the air-conditioner. Ask for the list of what is included and what is extra before you agree, because the difference between two quotes is usually about coverage rather than the hourly rate.
How many people come, and how long does it take?
The hours depend on the size of the flat, the condition of the kitchen and whether there are pets, older people or small children in the home, all of which slow the work down. Ask how many cleaners will be sent and for how long, and whether there is a minimum time. If you need the flat back by a certain hour, say so before the visit, because a team that finishes late is hard to fit into a building with restricted entry.
Can a deep clean remove mould and stains that have gone deep?
A deep clean can remove surface dirt, grease and light mould that comes off with the right product, but it cannot fix the reason the mould is there. Black mould that has grown into a wall corner or behind a cabinet needs the moisture source dealt with first, and the cleaning then has to be treated as a separate job with its own price. Some companies will not quote a clean that is meant to hide an unresolved leak, and it is fair to ask them what they have found.
What if something is damaged during the clean, and how do I check the work?
The point of checking before the cleaners leave is to spot the areas that were missed: the tops of the cupboards, behind the toilet, the skirting and the inside of the oven. Ask how a damaged item is handled and whether there is insurance, and take photographs of anything valuable before the work starts. Tell the cleaners which items are fragile and which surfaces must not be touched with a chemical product.
How is the waste handled, and is the floor protected?
Ask whether the rubbish is taken down to the refuse point or left at the bin store, because carrying bags down several flights is part of the hours and some companies charge for it. A careful cleaner lays sheets on the floor and around the appliances before starting, and moves the furniture rather than cleaning around it. If you are moving house, ask about the final clean and whether the keys need to be returned to the agent or the owner.
Does the building need to approve the cleaning work?
If the cleaners need to move heavy furniture, work in the common corridors or use the lift, the management office usually wants the arrangement confirmed in advance, and the service lift may need to be booked. Some buildings restrict the hours for water use or for moving items out of the flat. Tell the company about these rules when you book, because a visit that cannot get into the building still gets charged.
Before you book
Agree the area in writing before the visit, and list the items that are inside the package and the ones that are charged extra, because that is where two deep clean quotes usually differ. Ask how many people are coming and for how long, and what happens if the team finishes late. Move or protect fragile items yourself, keep the rubbish arrangement clear, and check the missed areas before the cleaners leave.
How the prices work
The reference figures are built around a standard flat of a given size, and the time and the price move with the condition of the place. A kitchen that has not been degreased for years, a bathroom with heavy mould, a home with pets or a flat that has been empty for months all take longer than a flat that is cleaned regularly. Deep cleaning also works out cheaper per item when it is booked together with a move or an oven clean, because separate visits mean paying for the set-up again.
